Branagh Comments On Status Of THOR, S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent Coulson Joins The Cast

Based on the Marvel comic of the same name, Thor tells the story of a Norse warrior whose reckless actions reignite an ancient war and result in his expulsion from the realm of Asgard. Thor later learns that his enemies are plotting an invasion of Earth. Director of Thor, Kenneth Branagh commented about the status of the movie (which recently started production) at the Golden Globe Awards – Branagh said,

“We have many miles to go and promises to keep, but so far, so good,”

“Everybody’s doing very good work and just a lot of it is so promising. Fingers crossed for everybody and everything. [Hemsworth] is a great guy.”

Further proof that Marvel is really putting forth an effort to weave their universe together and prep things for the upcoming Avangers film – Clark Gregg, who played S.H.I.E.L.D Agent Coulson in “Iron Man” and is reprising that role in the upcoming “Iron Man 2,” has also been cast to play that very same character in Kenneth Branagh’s THOR.

Thor, starring Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Natalie Portman, Anthony Hopkins and Renee Russo, hits theaters worldwide on May 6, 2011.
