Ben Kingsley to Get Villainous Opposite Robery Downey Jr. In IRON MAN 3

Just last month, we brought you a rumor about the storyline for Iron Man 3 and Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) coming in contact with Extremis, the military nanotechnology version of the Super-Soldier Serum created by Dr. Abraham Erskine that turned the meek Steve Rogers into the heroic Captain America.

In the Extremis story arc penned by Warren Ellis, the Extremis nanobots are first used by terrorists and later by Stark to enhance his Iron Man suit and give him additional powers and control over the suit. That rumor also included the tidbit that Iron Man 3 would feature multiple villains.

Now, we may know who one of those villains in the film penned by Drew Pearce and to be directed by Shane Black (Lethal Weapon, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang) will be portrayed by. THR reports that Ben Kingsley (Ender’s Game) will portray a baddie in the Marvel Studios film, though Kingsley will reportedly not be the primary villain of the film.

The trade’s sources stated that “Insiders say there is a chance Kingsley will play the Mandarin, but because the script is still being written, the character might be reconfigured for silver-screen presentation. The Mandarin’s classic traits might be merged with a nanotechnological virus seen in a storyline titled “Extremis.

Iron Man 3 is slated to hit theaters on May 3rd, 2013.
