Back in June we brought you the news that Alexander Skarsgård (True Blood) had joined the cast of Peter Berg‘s upcoming board game turned Sci-Fi film, Battleship. Now, we have word that Pop/R&B artist/model Rihanna has signed on to join Skarsgård and Taylor Kitsch in the Universal Pictures film. As we told you previously, Kitsch will play a Naval officer who leads the battle and Skarsgård will play his brother.

No specifics about Rihanna‘s role in the film have been released as of yet.

Battleship drifts into theaters on May 25, 2012.
