Ian McShane (Deadwood, Kings) will be hitting the high seas with Johnny Depp for the fourth installment of the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise. According to THR, He “will play legendary pirate Blackbeard — whose real name was Edward Teach — who piloted the ship Queen Anne’s Revenge.” McShane joins Penelope Cruz as a recent addition to the cast of the Rob Marshall-directed Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.

Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides is shooting in Hawaii this summer and will hit theaters on May 20, 2011. (Which is sadly NOT International Talk Like a Pirate Day)
