Rocksteady Studios brought home the BAFTA Game of the Year award for Batman: Arkham Asylum back in March, and the game was such a huge hit that Warner Bros Interactive Entertainment (WBIE) acquired a majority stake in Rocksteady and the game went on to win the Guinness World Record for the ‘Most Critically Acclaimed Superhero Game Ever’.
Now, Warner Bros. has announced that the forthcoming sequel to Batman: Arkham Asylum is officially titled Batman: Arkham City, and will hit store shelves next fall for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC. According to the folks at Rocksteady, the game “builds upon the intense, atmospheric foundation of Batman: Arkham Asylum, sending players soaring into Arkham City, the new maximum security ‘home’ for all of Gotham City’s thugs, gangsters and insane criminal masterminds.”
The sequel is set inside the now “heavily fortified” walls of a sprawling district in the heart of Gotham City, and the game features a brand-new story that “draws together a new all-star cast of classic characters and murderous villains from the Batman universe.” Part of that “all-star” cast includes Cat Woman, Mr. Freeze and Two-Face.
