20th Century Fox has been campaigning for Andy Serkis to score a best supporting actor nomination for his role as Caesar in director Rupert Wyatt‘s Planet of the Apes reboot Rise of the Planet of the Apes, an effort that we support wholeheartedly. There seems to be some confusion amongst award bodies over whether or not the actor in the motion capture suit or the CG animator is responsible for the performance of characters like Caesar (in my opinion, both).

Now, the folks over at HitFix have gotten their hands on some video that shows Serkis’ performance in a scene, followed by the finished CG product. To me, there’s no question that Andy Serkis‘ motion capture performance is amazing and award-worthy. Check out the video below!
