Back in September, we brought you an interview with Chloe Moretz (Kick-Ass, Hick) who is portraying Carolyn Stoddard in director Tim Burton‘s forthcoming big-screen adaptation of the cult classic television series, Dark Shadows. In the interview, the actress described her character as “a really fun character. She is crazy. She is this teenager, like 15-year-old hippie who is into The Carpenters and Alice Cooper. She’s super music-y and raw, like free love, you know. She’s fun”.
Now, the LATimes reports that Detroit’s own shock rocker will be bringing his nightmare to the big-screen alongside the ensemble cast. Alice Cooper will be playing himself in the film, and will be performing his early 70s hit song, “No More Mr. Nice Guy”.
Cooper was impressed with the sets for the film at Pinewood Studios and said,
“They should take that set and make it a haunted house next year”
He also spoke about the combination of Rock and Horror, and had some kind words about director Tim Burton (Frankenweenie):
“Rock and horror and comedy work together, that’s something I’ve known a long time and people like Rob Zombie know, and Burton knows that too,” Cooper said. “Sometimes the comedy is disguised a little bit, it’s dark, but it is there. You can’t do horror and rock with a punchline in a way. There’s the absurd stuff and there’s just that delivery of the ’Oh!’ moment that is like a punchline. I just saw ‘Final Destination 5′ and I was laughing so hard. I mean, it was Wile E. Coyote, all these elaborate things leading up to this moment of impact… there’s something like that in our shows, too. Hitchcock would do it too. There’s the setup, the misdirect and then the delivery. Tim Burton knows it so well. He’s one of a kind. He’s a kindred spirit.”
