We told you back in June that the Akira movie was reportedly dead and buried, but apparently it is now being resurrected.
According to Collider and their “trusted source”, the live action version of Katsuhiro Otomo’s popular anime has started showing signs of life again.
Warner Bros. has kept the project in development and is about to receive a new script from Oscar nominees Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby, whose joint credits include “Children of Men,” “Iron Man” and the upcoming “Cowboys & Aliens” (which recently added director Jon Favreau and actor Robert Downey Jr.).
What we still don’t know is who will play the iconic title character. Initially it was rumored that Leonardo DiCaprio, who is producing the remake, would star, but he later denied this.
