Oz: The Great and Powerful opened up this past weekend to some mixed reviews, but it was a smashing success at the box office, bringing in a reported $80.3 million at the weekend box office in the U.S. and Canada. Doors in the movie were certainly left open for a sequel and it looks like the cast is interested in a return.
All three of the witches, Mila Kunis, Rachel Weisz and Michelle Williams spoke with E! Online and they all had positive things to say about returning to Oz. Mila Kunis being the most specific in her statement, “We’re all signed on for sequels.” But of course nothing is set in stone until Disney says it is.
The one person who definitely won’t be back for the sequel will be director Sam Raimi who said, “I’m not signed up for a sequel and I have no plans right now to make a sequel.”
The directing is most certainly a very important part of this film so I’m curious to see who will sign on.
We’ll keep you posted on the sequel for Oz: The Great and Powerful.
