Cast Member Upgraded to Series Regular on THE WALKING DEAD, Plus Location News

One might think that being upgraded to “series regular” on The Walking Dead would give an actor a sense of relief, of stability, of job security. Until that actor remembers – “wait, it’s The Walking Dead.” Shane, Dale, even Sophia… all regulars. It could also mean more screen time… until that actor remembers T-Dog.

Still, TVLine broke the news that congratulations are in order for Lauren Cohan (Glenn’s girlfriend Maggie) for getting the bump up to full-fledged One Of The Gang! Congratulations! And… good luck!

In other The Walking Dead news, the city of Senoia, Georgia, will be a primary shooting location for Season 3 (the church in episode 1 of season 2 was in Senoia). Online Georgia news site TheCitizen.com reports that The Walking Dead location manager Mike Riley at the April 2 meeting of the Senoia City Council gave an overview of the third season that is now in pre-production. Riley told the council that Senoia would be “a major set for next season,” adding that Raleigh Studios, also located in Senoia, will serve as the production’s other principal set.

Note: We are preferring to not interpret that as meaning that they’ll be spending the third season in one place for the whole long time, as we are certain they are done with that. Certain.

Here’s our favorite part of what Riley is reported to have told the council. The production has been constructing a giant movable wall that will be used to give the impression that the city is walled off. He explained that the town will be seen as a sanctuary from the zombie apocalypse: “The town is walled off. Inside the wall is a safe zone and a benevolent dictator runs the town.” As Bugs Bunny would say, Oh Murgatroyd!

In the meantime, showrunner Glen Mazzara is working away at the season premiere, as he tweeted on Tuesday “I wrote all day. 301 is insane.” We. Can’t. Wait.

The Walking Dead season 3, starring Andrew Lincoln, Laurie Holden, Norman Reedus, Steven Yeun, and Lauren Cohan, premieres later this year on AMC.
