So far, so good with Fridaymageddon. It’s taking 2 DVRs recording a total of 8 different shows but the avalanche of sci-fi-related shows all scheduled for Friday has not broken me. There are happily no losers in this battle so far, and hopefully there will be many winners. One winner, at least a winner of network love, is rookie series Grimm as word came out today that NBC has ordered additional episodes.
Earlier described as “a handful of additional episodes, Deadline is now reporting that the number is Two. Any additional episodes is a good thing, though, and it was great to see that the show is on the NBC midseason schedule that was released on Monday.
THR reports that Grimm has been at the top of the 9 p.m. hour in the advertiser-coveted demo “for most of the weeks” it has been on the air, which would necessarily mean two out of three weeks. For its most recent episode, Grimm averaged 5.2 million viewers and a 1.6 rating in adults 18-49. In other words, it’s doing well.
Admittedly it’s the 9:00 hour that is likely the most contested amongst Our Kind; it’s Fringe vs. Supernatural vs. Grimm. So it’s kinda nice that Grimm isn’t completely trouncing the more seasoned competition, but also nice for Grimm, which has the most to prove, that it is making such a strong showing. There’s room for all three, as far as we here are concerned.
Congratulations to the cast and production of Grimm, and keep up the good work.
Grimm, starring David Giuntoli, Russell Hornsby, and Silas Weir Mitchell, airs Fridays at 9/8c on NBC.
