Boo! Halloween has passed by and most of you out there have likely had your fill of costumes, candy, spirits from both the refrigerator and beyond the grave. For those of you who can never get enough of the spooky stuff, Legendary Pictures has a treat in the pipeline for you.

THR reports that Legendary has picked up screenwriter Ian Fried‘s spec screenplay entitled Spectral. The story is said to revolve around a special ops group formed to take down ghosts that are taking over Manhattan.

You may be having “Who you gonna call?“-style flashbacks, and you wouldn’t be the only one. The project is in fact being compared to Ghostbusters, but with a much darker and more serious tone. Fried is said to have made the sale to Legendary after presenting a “rip reel”, which is a mash-up of scenes from other movies which represented the tone, story beats and visual style of Spectral.

No production or release dates have been announced for Spectral.
