Rumor Has It! DREDD Director Pete Travis Locked Out of Editing Room

Yikes! Apparently all might not be well in Mega-City One. Pete Travis (Vantage Point), the director of the forthcoming Judge Dredd reboot has reportedly been forced out of post-production due to “creative disagreements with producers and executives in charge of the film“, and the reins have now been handed over to writer/producer Alex Garland (28 Days Later).

According to sources for the LATimes, not only is Garland now in charge of the editing room, they are also considering reshoots and Garland will seemingly be reworking so much material that he may seek a co-directing credit on the film.

Synopsis:

“DREDD takes us to the wild streets of Mega City One, the lone oasis of quasi-civilization on Cursed Earth. Judge Dredd (Karl Urban) is the most feared of elite Street Judges, with the power to enforce the law, sentence offenders and execute them on the spot – if necessary. The endlessly inventive mind of writer Alex Garland and the frenetic vision of director Pete Travis bring DREDD to life as a futuristic neo-noir action film that returns the celebrated character to the dark, visceral incarnation from John Wagner and Carlos Ezquerra’s revered comic strip.”

DREDD is slated to hit theaters on September 21st, 2012.
