G.I. Joe 2: Bruce Willis Is Officially Cast In The Sequel

Just last week, we brought you a great pic of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, from the first day of filming on the set of Paramount’s G.I. Joe 2: Retaliation. Over the weekend, Johnson announced confirmation of a bit of casting news that we all were hoping to hear.

Via his Twitter account (@TheRock), Johnson openly welcomed Bruce Willis to the cast of G.I. Joe 2 with this tweet:

No hashtag would have been more appropriate! Willis (Die Hard 5, Red) had been in negotiations since early this month to join the cast of G.I. Joe 2 to play the original Joe, General Joe Colton, who started the G.I. Joe ultimate freedom fighting force.

G.I. Joe: Retaliation stars Bruce Willis, Channing Tatum, Dwayne Johnson, Walton Goggins, Ray Stevenson, Byung-hun Lee, Ray Park, Adrianne Palacki, RZA, D.J. Cotrona, Elodie Young, and Joe Mazzello. The film begins shooting this month in New Orleans.

G.I. Joe: Retaliation is slated to hit theaters on June 29, 2012.
