Johnny Depp loves to play the most interesting characters and that’s not a bad niche to find roles in either. Depp does different and does it well. Now, it looks like dear ‘ole Johnny is in cahoots with Disney in more than films involving pirates.
Deadline reports that Depp’s Infinitum Nihil and Disney are collaborating on a feature film version on the 1970’s television movie and subsequent series, The Night Stalker, created by Darren McGavin. The Night Stalker followed tabloid reporter Carl Kolchak in his investigations into vampires, zombies, werewolves, and aliens – all subjects hot in today’s mainstream. Timing seems to be right on trend with this project.
Depp and Infinitum Nihil partner Christi Dembrowski will be producing with a possibility of Depp starring as Kolchak. David Kennedy will serve as executive producer.
Infinitum Nihil and Disney are also working on a drama exploring the twenty-four hour period surrounding Paul Revere’s fateful midnight ride to warn the Colonial militia of the British invasion.
No release date for The Night Stalker has been set yet.
