Just a few days ago, we brought you casting news about POWERS, a police procedural set in a world in which supernatural powers are not uncommon. Back in March, we also told you that Katee Sackhoff had been very clear that she was interested in the role of Deena Pilgrim.
Now, Deadline reports that the part of Deena has been cast, and although the woman is blonde, she is not Katee Sackhoff. She is in fact Lucy Punch, a British actor (please let her keep her accent; remember, Americans find accents charming) best known (to me, anyway) as the horrible-Juliet-actress in Simon Pegg’s Hot Fuzz. Remember, her character was involved with Timothy Dalton‘s, and she had that horrible laugh? YES, that’s the one.
Punch joins Bailee Madison and Charles S. Dutton in the cast. Filming for the pilot is reportedly set to begin mid-summer in Chicago. Powers is based on the graphic novel of the same name by Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Avon Oeming; the pilot was written by Charles H. Eglee (The Walking Dead).
