THE HOBBIT: Peter Jackson Released from Hospital Following Surgery

Just last week, we told you that director Peter Jackson (The Hobbit) was admitted to Wellington Hospital in New Zealand with acute stomach pains and had undergone surgery for a perforated stomach ulcer. According to a statement from the production team with The Hobbit:

“Sir Peter is currently resting comfortably and his doctors expect him to make a full recovery. Sir Peter’s surgery is not expected to impact on his directing commitment to The Hobbit beyond a slight delay to the start of filming.”

Now, THR reports that Peter Jackson has been released from the hospital and will continue his recuperation at home. His publicist, Melissa Booth says that delays in filming on The Hobbit should be minimal. She said that Jackson thanked hospital staff and fans who had wished him a speedy recovery.

The Hobbit: Part 1 is currently slated to hit theaters December 2012.

The Hobbit: Part 2 is currently slated to hit theaters December 2013.
