Sam Worthington Confirms Involvement In Adaptation Of DAN DARE: Pilot of the Future

Earlier this month we reported a casting rumor that Sam Worthington would be playing Dan Dare: Pilot of the Future in an upcoming adaptation of the British, sci-fi comic book series introduced in 1950, about the chief pilot of the Interplanetary Space Fleet and has been described as a British version of Buck Rogers.

Now, Worthington spoke with MTV and he confirmed that he is involved with Dan Dare as well as another comic book adaptation called The Last Days of American Crime, which we told you about last November.

Speaking about The Last Days of American Crime – Worthington said,

“We’re putting [‘Last Days of American Crime’] together as we speak, The writer of the comic is actually doing his take on a draft. I thought that was a smart thing for me and my mates to get him to do, and we’re looking for directors — a director who would be able to handle it.”

and on Dan Dare – Worthington said,

“‘Dan Dare,’ same type of thing — we’re seeing how they’re going to develop it and where they want it to go, I’m at that stage now where I want to do movies where I get my $16 worth. … Something like ‘Dan Dare,’ there was something in the reboot by [Garth Ennis] that was amazing.”
