Lucy Lawless Wants To Bring XENA: Warrior Princess To Theaters

The New Zealand-born, Lucy Lawless reportedly wants movie execs to adapt her former cult TV series Xena: Warrior Princess into a film. The series aired from September 4, 1995 until May 21, 2001 and co-starred Renee O’Connor. Lawless fears that fans will lose interest in the fantasy franchise if it is revived for television.

Lawless said,

“I love that character. I would do it if it was a movie. I doubt I would do it as a TV series. I can’t see how you would make it fresh.”

Lawless added that she is desperate for its resurgence on the big screen,

“By the time somebody does come up with that I’m just going to be too old, and I’m really sad about that. I feel like it’s a completely wasted franchise.”
