Summit Entertainment, who brought “Twilight” to the big screen, is bringing the sci-fi thriller “Push” to the small screen. Summit is teaming up with E1 Entertainment (“Hung” HBO), to develop and produce a television series based on the 2009 Summit-released film. The television series centers on a group of “people with paranormal powers who band together to take down a corrupt government agency”.
Summit co-chairmen, Rob Friedman and Patrick Wachsberger spoke about this television series adaptation:
“The concept behind the ‘Push’ feature film offers a broad and rich canvas on which to extend the story line and characters introduced in the feature film. The project is also the perfect vehicle to initiate Summit’s plans of producing programming for the global TV marketplace.”
The “Push” television series will be penned by David Hayter (“Watchmen”, “X-men”, “X2”). John Morayniss, CEO of E1 Television, is enthusiastic about Hayter’s writing:
“David Hayter’s work on ‘Watchmen’ gives him superhero status on the sci-fi front and instantly ensures that ‘Push’ gets the right kind of attention.”
Summit also is behind the acclaimed film “The Hurt Locker”. The 2009 film “Push” starred Chris Evans, Dakota Fanning, Djimon Hounsou, and Camilla Belle and was directed by Paul McGuigan. The film grossed $50 million worldwide.
“Push” also spawned a comic book mini-series in 2008-2009 from Wildstorm. The comic book series was written by Marc Bernardin and Adam Freeman with art by Bruno Redondo.
