One of my favorite, underrated movies of the last decade is The Descent. If you haven’t seen it yet, I highly recommend you do so soon because once this sequel invades the UK, we are sure to have it walking up our shores shortly after. The original story involved a group of hot babes out on a caving adventure. Things go horribly wrong, a cave “dwelling” race of monster is discovered and said monster begins to pick them off like popcorn in a cavity, leaving only one girl to survive. The film is ripe with claustrophobic scenes, blood and things that go bump in the dark.

Synopsis:
Emerging from the cave system alone, distraught and covered in the blood of her missing companions, Sarah (Shauna MacDonald is incoherent and half-wild with fear. Sceptical about her account of events and convinced Sarah’s psychosis hides far darker secrets, Sheriff Vaines (Gavan O’Herlihy) doesn’t waste time. Along with his partner Rios (Krysten Cummings), and their cave rescue team Dan (Douglas Hodge), Greg (Joshua Dallas), and Cath (Anna Skellern), Vaines forces Sarah back into the caves to help the rescuers find her friends. But as the rescue party enters further uncharted domains, flashbacks start haunting Sarah as shocking memories of the past hit home. For they are venturing into the habitat of a new tribe of Crawlers, even more viciously feral than Sarah faced before.
