Cowabunga Dude?

Over on his TMNT creator Peter Laird’s official blog, he wrote up an entry about the live-action news and at the end, commented on the hybrid aspect of it.

“So here we go — another live action film! As you may recall from some of myteenage_mutant_ninja_turtles_090004 previous comments, our initial discussions regarding the next film had to do with what we were calling a ‘hybrid’ — live action with realistic Turtles rendered in CGI and blended in. This new idea — which, frankly, I am VERY pumped about — will have actors and stunt performers in full Turtle suits for filming in live action. As of right now, there is talk of using CGI to do ‘face replacement’ for the suits so that we can get those great, expressive faces possible with CGI.”

If all of this TMNT Reboot action sounds strange to you, you should see the turtles craziness that’s happening at the Tribeca Film Festival. Not only are they playing the original live-action movie but then the Empire State Building’s lights are turning green in honor of the Turtles. No, seriously!

Someone thought that The 25th anniversary of the TMNT comic deserved a “Shell-ebration”, That’s not some really bad attempt at a pun on my part.. that is actually what they called it!
