Back in January we told you that we would all be getting a side order of Apes with our turkey and stuffing this Thanksgiving because 20th Century Fox had scheduled the release of the Rupert Wyatt directed Rise of the Apes for November 23rd, 2011.

Now, THR reports that the studio has seen the entire film and decided to capitalize on the kids who are still out of school for the Summer and have rescheduled the film to become their final tentpole film for the season, with a new, August 5th release date.

Rise of the Apes, directed by Rupert Wyatt and starring James Franco, Brian Cox, Andy Serkis, John Lithgow, Freida Pinto and Tom Felton is slated to hit theaters on August 5th, 2011.
