20th Century Fox and DreamWorks to Co-Finance Spielberg’s ROBOPOCALYPSE

In October of last year, we brought you the news that director Steven Spielberg had signed on to direct the big-screen adaptation of Daniel H. Wilson‘s novel Robopocalypse, based on a screenplay penned by Drew Goddard (Cloverfield, Lost). At that time, Spielberg was set to begin principal photography in January 2012, and the film was tentatively set to be released by Disney’s Touchstone Pictures in 2013.

Now, Deadline reports that DreamWorks and Fox are near a deal to co-finance the film, Disney will release the film in the U.S. and 20th Century Fox will distribute the film internationally. The film also has an official release date of July 3rd, 2013.

Robopocalypse directed by Steven Spielberg is slated to hit theaters on July 3rd, 2013.
