‘Spider-Man 4’ Script To Be Rewritten By Gary Ross of ‘Seabiscuit’ Fame?

Remember that time when Sam Raimi said that we won’t know who the “Spider-Man 4″ villains are until the script is finished? Yeah, well, it looks like that time might be a little farther away than we’d hoped.

Gary Ross has been hired to pen a new draft of “Spider-Man 4,” the next installment in the franchise. The deal reunites Ross with series lead Tobey Maguire, who he directed previously in “Seabiscuit.”

The “Spider-Man 4” script was originally written by James Vanderbilt, and then rewritten by David Lindsay-Abaire.

[RANT] Really? This is what we’re pinning our hopes on? My common sense is tingling! I really don’t think some guy who has written a movie like ‘Seabiscuit’ and just to happens to be bucking for a directorial shot at the Lance Armstrong Biopic needs to be using Web Head to attempt to prove himself to Sony. If he wanted to do it because he loved Spidey, I wouldn’t have a problem with it.. but this clown has ulterior motives written all over him. Let’s hope Raimi cleans up some of his mess before turning the cameras on!
