Last year, we brought you a very cool CG Animated proof-of-concept short film for a Sci-Fi action-adventure feature film trilogy directed by David Weinstein from Black Sun Entertainment, entitled Azureus Rising. The film went on to earn Weinstein the #4 spot on the end of year industry polls for aspiring filmmakers.

Over the past year David noticed a flood of overly polished and cheesy costumed superhero movies. This raised the question, “Why isn’t anyone doing more serious, grounded and dramatic toned superhero genre films? Movies like UNBREAKABLE and BATMAN BEGINS did well at the box office and audiences and fans loved them”. This inspired David to contact friend and writer Shintaro Shimosawa about a new film concept.
Weinstein said,
“I told Shin about a unique superhuman power concept that I had been playing with visually in my mind. I wanted to merge it with a story that was serious in tone. Like a thriller with touches of drama and action. Even though the story deals with characters that have superhuman abilities it’s not a superhero story/movie – it’s more of a thriller/drama with stylized action elements.”
David and Shin came up with a story that encompassed all the narrative angles they liked while keeping the pace aggressive and the visuals impressive. It was then decided that the concept should be converted and morphed into a short story to introduce the general idea to fans. This is how the Zero Point short film was born.

ZERO POINT is the short story of two inner city brothers who share a unique superhuman ability. Their gift however comes with a price – it’s addictive and the side effects are deadly. The brothers have kept their talent a secret their entire lives. What happens when one of them begins to abuse his power and a mysterious group discovers his gift? Our story escalates to a deadly climax that will change the two brothers lives forever.
The Zero Point Team is on a mission to bring this cool dramatic and exciting story to the screen with a high level care and quality. The big idea behind the ZP short film is that there is an amazing full length story to be told that is intriguing, exciting and visually stunning. We want to show audiences a taste of that and get them excited about the possibility of seeing the larger story. The ultimate goal for Team Zero Point is to make a low budget independent feature film that looks and feels like we had the budget of a full on Hollywood style production.
