V: Will Lisa Betray Her Mother And Ally Herself With The Fifth Column?

On tonight’s episode of ABC’s “V”, Lisa (Laura Vandervoot) is found beaten and legs broken, with a “V” carved into her face. We have seen her empathy towards humans and her feelings towards Tyler in previous episodes.  She is unlike the other rank and file Vistors and she is next in line to be Queen. How will this escalation in her mother’s plan to secure Tyler in her grand scheme play out for Lisa? Check out these excerpts from interviews with Vandervoot on the development of her character and how these events may change her.

Is Anna (Morena Baccarin) onto Lisa?

Vandervoot: Lisa failed the empathy test, so the audience knows she has empathy and she’s in love with Tyler (Logan Huffman), but Anna doesn’t necessarily know that, though she suspects it. Anna strikes Lisa first to make her a pawn in bringing Tyler back on the ship, but then she also says to break her legs, so it’s probably a punishment as well.

On her character’s role in tonight’s episode:

Vandervoot: It’s the first time you’re really going to get to know her true voice, and connect with her… She’s always under the control of her mother, and this is going to let you connect with her.

Comparing the mother-child relationship between Erica (Elizabeth Mitchell) and Tyler and hers own with Anna:

Vandervoot: It’s the first time she sees what it’s like to have a mother who truly cares about her and wants to protect her; she’s never had that. To see that in Erica, it hits a spot in her heart or whatever it is that they have for a heart. [Laughs] Every time she sees Erica with Tyler, she compares it to her own life and sees that she wants the warmth.

Lisa obviously has real feelings for Tyler:

Vandervoot: …everything she does from now on is to protect him. She’s walking a fine line, and she’s next in line to be queen.

Will Anna lose control over Lisa?

Vandervoot: There’s always a chance a mother might lose control of her child.

If Lisa would be queen, what kind of queen would she make?

Vandervoot: On the one side, I’d like for her to become queen V, because then she could lead people on a more peaceful demeanor rather than world domination or something. On the other hand, it would mean something would have happened to her mother. There’s a lot of storylines that need to be balanced before she becomes queen.
