After a few years of talk about a live-action Star Wars television series, franchise creator George Lucas has recently stated that the project is “on hold”. The series was to take place “between the last prequel and the first original, A New Hope, during the dark time Obi Wan mentioned to Luke in Episode IV”. Lucas begins to explain the delay in production:
“The live action TV show is kind of on hold because we have scripts, but we don’t know how to do them,” he said.
As with any project, the execution of a script into reality within budget is always a challenge. Lucas continues:
“They literally are Star Wars, only we’re going to have to try to do them [at] a tenth the cost. And it’s a huge challenge, [a] lot bigger than what we thought it was gonna be.”
This project is not to be confused with the animated Star Wars comedy headed by Robot Chicken creators Seth Green and Matthew Senreich and Lucasfilm.
