Hot on the heels of The Maze Runner‘s opening weekend of $32.5 million domestically and $37.6 million overseas, James Dashner‘s sequel adaptation, The Maze Runner: Scorch Trials barrels into production and sets a release date.

According to Variety we can expect The Maze Runner: Scorch Trials in slightly less than a year, on September 18, 2015, which is practically no time at all considering the wait we had for The Maze Runner. No word yet on a green light for Dashner‘s third book adaptation, The Maze Runner: The Death Cure.

The Maze Runner: Scorch Trials starring Dylan O’Brien, Thomas Brodie-Sangster, Kaya Scodelario and Ki Hong Lee is slated to hit theaters September 18, 2015.
