The rumor that Doctor Who‘s Peter Capaldi and Jenna Coleman will be welcoming an additional companion in the new season is spreading like wildfire, aided in no small part by the potential companion himself.
Cast your mind back to Doctor Who: The Day of the Doctor. The very beginning. In fact, the first scene. Remember, Clara was teaching, and another teacher came to her to tell her there was a message from The Doctor.
That other teacher, Tom, was played by Tristan Beint. He had this to say about those rumors:
@pheasantjumpers now, now, spoilers… But #tomwald, like it. Pass that on to Mr Moffat…

and this:
@pheasantjumpers love it. Are you sure Tom could ever compete with a Time Lord though..? Oho… Keep watching and #dontbuythesun

Yes yes, that could just be wishful thinking. We’ll have to wait and see. That last hashtag, by the way, was because The Sun newspaper apparently leaked one or more not-to-be-released major plotpoints about the Christmas special. No, I haven’t looked, and no, I’m not going to. But we WILL keep you posted on any casting news for the upcoming season. In the meantime…
The 2013 Doctor Who Christmas Special, Doctor Who: The Time of the Doctor, starring Matt Smith, Jenna Coleman, and likely at least a brief glimpse of Peter Capaldi, airs December 25 on BBC America.
