We told you just a couple of weeks ago about Clash of the Titans director, Louis Leterrier being on the shortlist of potential directors for Marvel’s superhero ensemble film, The Avengers. Now, a source over at IESB tells them that writer/director Joss Whedon is another contender on that shortlist.

With a massive following, due to his work on Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Angel, Firefly, Serenity, Dollhouse , the internet phenom – Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog, and his work in comics such as the Astonishing X-Men, Joss Whedon has geek cred to spare.

IESB stresses that this has not yet been confirmed by Marvel, or Whedon’s reps, and until then is to be considered rumor.
