Another role has been cast in Christopher’s Nolan’s Interstellar, and yes, the only thing we know is the who, and not the who-will-he-be-playing. Matt Damon is the latest to join the cast. Already on the docket are Matthew McConaughey, Anne Hathaway, Jessica Chastain, Bill Irwin, Casey Affleck, Timothee Chalamet, Mackenzie Foy, John Lithgow, Ellen Burstyn and Michael Caine.

The Playlist is reporting that Matt Damon’s role in Interstellar will be a small one. Small enough to only be on set shooting for two weeks out of the total 4 months of shooting in Iceland.

And just to refresh you on what we know exactly of the plot, here are the two blurbs we have. The ONLY two blurbs we have.

[Interstellar] centers on the discovery of an energy source from the Hawking radiation from a nearby blackhole. Extra-dimensional beings that control the blackhole may also exist in the plot. Several plot points are allusions to general relativity and parts of Thorne’s research, including the gravitational red shift that occurs when the character is close to the vicinity of the black hole.

[Interstellar is a] heroic interstellar voyage to the furthest reaches of our scientific understanding.

I cannot wait for some visuals to start surfacing for this movie. Iceland is one of my favorite movie/television show backdrops. It’s completely stunning.
