On the fourth anniversary of the conclusion of my personal favorite TV series of all time, Lost, I’m happy to report that the man who played the man in charge of the island, Mark Pellegrino, will be working for one of the showrunners, Carlton Cuse, in the upcoming series The Returned on A&E.
If you saw the original French version of The Returned (Les Revenants) on the Sundance Channel, you’ll understand when I say that he’ll be playing the father of Lena and Camille; Jack in the upcoming new version, Jérôme in the French version. Deadline first reported the news, and in their report they explain who Lena and Camille are, and it is different from the French version. We shall see if that’s how it actually goes.
I loved The Returned (Les Revenants) and am really looking forward to seeing the new version, particularly as written by Carlton Cuse. Whether it is faithful to the French series, deliberately different, or a mix, it will be a definitely DO NOT MISS for me. The twists and turns from the original are best enjoyed spoiler free, so I’ll try to keep things that way here as well.
Here’s the synopsis again:
The Returned focuses on a small town that is turned upside down when several local people, who have been long presumed dead suddenly reappear, bringing with them both positive and detrimental consequences. As families are reunited, the lives of those who were left behind are challenged on a physical and emotional level. Interpersonal relationships are examined with intrigue and depth as strange phenomena begin to occur.
Yes, yes, fans of Resurrection, it does sound strikingly similar. But Resurrection has proven that there’s plenty of room under the once-dead-now-inexplicably-returned tent. Bring it!
No word yet on when The Returned on A&E will air, but we’ll keep you posted.
