One of my greatest personal regrets is that I’ve never participated in a Soapbox Derby. Maybe I’m romanticizing  the hell out of the experience, but the idea of building my own gravity-powered vehicle and racing down a hill to glory always captivated my young and impressionable mind. It’s a grievance I fully intend to rectify when I have a little nerd of my very own, and now thanks to Instructables user The Paper Boy, I have my design.

The Paper Boy claims that he only spent $75 in raw materials constructing this amazing X-Wing box car. It comes complete with a head-swiveling, beep-booping Artoo dome, and if these figures are accurate, then PB got an amazing level of quality for a very reasonable price.

He didn’t win the derby with his X-Wing design. But who cares? With a design like this one, he was still the star of the show!
