Apparently Sam Rockwell didn’t get enough of Jon Favreau (or vice versa) on the set of Iron Man 2 because now Rockwell has reportedly joined the cast of Favreau’s next project, DreamWorks SKG‘s big-screen adaption of the Platinum Studios graphic novel Cowboys and Aliens.

Rockwell joins a cast that includes Daniel Craig, Olivia Wilde and Harrison Ford. According to THR, Rockwell will play a bar owner named Doc who joins in the pursuit of the aliens. Once Favreau and the writers Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci and Damon Lindelof learned that Rockwell was interested in the movie, they re-conceived and expanded the role, which initially called for a heavy-set man.

Cowboys and Aliens is slated to hit theaters on July 29th 2011.
