Don’t freak out, Sandman fans. Despite Eric Kripke’s comments at this weekend’s PaleyFest, DC Entertainment Chief Creative Officer, Geoff Johns, says that the television adaptation for Neil Gaiman’s award-winning comic series, Sandman, is still on.
Kripke had been the chosen front runner to helm the adaptation when Warner Bros TV was working to acquire the rights from sister company DC Entertainment. Kripke had stated that Sandman was “not in the works:”
“Unfortunately, for a lot of varying reasons, Sandman is not in the works, at least for this season.”
Kripke added that it “just didn’t quite happen this season through nobody’s fault, and hopefully we can do it again in the future.”
But yesterday, Geoff Johns tweeted the following correction regarding the status of the Sandman television adaptation:
And it looks like Sandman will not be without its creator, Neil Gaiman. Johns also tweeted of Gaiman’s involvement in the future adaptation.
Kripke was right in that Sandman would not be on the line-up for the coming fall, but Johns wanted fans to know that the project has not been canned.
