Don’t miss the alternate-universe season finale of one of the best sci-fi shows on television- Fox’s “Fringe” concludes its second season tonight! The season closer episode, “Over There: Part 1” is the first half of the two hour season finale that continues next Thursday on May 20th.

Extended Sneak Peek at “Fringe” Finale

If you are new to the show, here is a quick summary of the J. J. Abrams/Alex Kurtzman/Roberto Orci show:

FBI Agent Olivia Dunham (Anna Torv) works with the consult of Peter Bishop (Joshua Jackson) and his unhinged, genius father Dr. Walter Bishop (John Noble) investigating strange events involving “fringe” science that make up a series of events called “The Pattern”. There is more than one of everything in that there is at least one other universe. Years ago, Dr. Walter Bishop stole the alternate version of his son from the alternate universe to save the boy’s life after he lost his own son to the same illness. Walter did not return alt-Peter. The breach between universes caused irreparable damage expressing itself in the form of “The Pattern”. Now there is a war brewing from the other side. Peter Bishop has been taken to the alt-universe. Olivia discovers that she was experimented on by Walter and his partner William Bell when she was a child and she alone possessed special abilities when dealing with the other side. Will Agent Olivia Dunham be able to save him and quell the war? What role does Peter play in the destruction of the world? The return of William Bell (Leonard Nimoy) is tantalizing!

[The Shakedown]

I have been so incredibly impressed with this show this season. It just gets better and better. These last few episodes, especially “Peter“, “White Tulip“, and “Brown Betty” have been so revealing and masterfully orchestrated, it has plainly knocked my socks off. If “Fringe” does not win recognition for its work in bringing the best sci-fi to television, I don’t know what people are watching. John Noble deserves recognition for his portrayal of Dr. Walter Bishop. Watch those episodes I mentioned and you will see what I mean. Newbies to the show, I encourage you to get caught up. “Fringe” is one of the best shows on television today!
