We just told you yesterday about the casting of Ben McKenzie as Detective Gordon in Fox‘s upcoming Batman/Commissioner Gordon/villains origin series Gotham. Now comes news of four more joining him in the prequel drama; welcome Robin Lord Taylor, Zabryna Guevara, Sean Pertwee, and Erin Richards.

Robin Lord Taylor has been cast to play Oswald Cobblepot, aka The Penguin. In Gotham, per Deadline, that means he’ll be playing a brilliant low-level psychopath with a lust for power. Okie dokes. Fans of The Walking Dead may recognize him as Sam, one half of the nice young couple that Rick and Carol met while searching for supplies, shortly before Rick gave Carol the boot.

Zabryna Guevara will be playing Gordon’s boss at the GCPD Homicide Squad, Captain Essen, “who balances the two worlds of police and politics with a Machiavellian skill that’s as much corporate litigator as cop.” We’ll have to wait and see if Captain Essen’s future in Gotham follows her future in the comics.

Sean Pertwee will be our slightly-younger-than-we’re-used-to Alfred, ex-Marine and trusted Wayne family caretaker. Pertwee will be recognizable to fans of Elementary as the British Lestrade with whom Sherlock worked in London; he’s meant to look like a younger Michael Caine, who played the part in The Dark Knight films. And yes, he is the son of Third Doctor (Who), the late Jon Pertwee.

And finally, Erin Richards has been cast as Gordon’s fiancee, “sophisticated emergency room doctor” Barbara Kean. She will reportedly find supporting her fiance to be a challenge when he’s facing down the corruption of Gotham City.

No press releases from Fox yet about the casting or really anything at all about the series, but since it was given a series order, we know that it’s expected to be developed as a series, not just a pilot. As always, we’ll keep you posted.

Gotham, starring Ben McKenzie, Robin Lord Taylor, Zabryna Guevara, Sean Pertwee, and Erin Richards, is expected to premiere in 2014 or 2015 on Fox.
