If you’re like me and you love the behind-the-scenes information about shows and movies, you’ll love this featurette on last week’s premiere of American Horror Story: Coven. It’s a commentary by the director and co-executive producer Alfonso Gomez-Réjon and Director of Photography Michael Goi, and includes a lot about the absolutely wonderful quirky cool camera work that made it such a visual feast.
Featurette: American Horror Story: Coven – Inside the Coven: Episode 1 Commentary
Okay, that old-timey-looking circle shot is called an “iris”. Got it. And oh right, “dutching”, they taught us that one before, it’s when the camera’s at an angle. I love learning new things, especially about production, and quite especially when it’s production of one of my favorite shows. I’m also happy to get this info at the beginning of the season; it makes viewing subsequent episodes even more interesting. Thank you, American Horror Story: Coven.
