As we’ve been telling (and showing) you, X-Men: Days of Future Past director Bryan Singer has been tweeting his casting announcements for the next entry in the X-Men movie franchise. So far, they have all been previous X-Men cast members, either from the first three movies or from the most recent, X-Men: First Class.
Last night, however, marked a turning point:
Officially like to welcome #PeterDinklage from #GameOfThrones to #XMEN #DaysofFuturePast Very very excited!

That’s right, kids – Tyrion Lannister, the only Lannister that I actually like from the Game of Thrones HBO series. Emmy-award winning Peter Dinklage will be gracing the multiplex screens in this hotly anticipated X-Men movie. Mr. Singer didn’t give us any more info than what you see, but right now he’s pretty busy working on the script and promoting his Jack the Giant Slayer, which premieres March 1.
As for bringing back any other characters from previous X-Men movies, he told MTV:
I can’t say. I don’t know yet. And it’s not necessarily a deal making aspect at all. I want to make sure it’ll make sense. I don’t want to say who the protagonists are yet, or talk about that yet, but I will say that every character has a very important function in the story. The story is designed and catered to the combined cast. It’s not just throwing in people to occupy the screen, occupy the billboards. The story ‘Days of Future Past,’ and our version of ‘Days of Future Past’ is geared very much toward the mass cast and all their relationships and all their foibles and their achievements.
This is such great news. I really can’t wait to see what he has planned for the movie and for us. We’ll keep you posted.
X-Men: Days Of Future Past, starring Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy, Nicholas Hoult, Jennifer Lawrence, Ian McKellen, Patrick Stewart, Hugh Jackman, Anna Paquin,Ellen Page, Shawn Ashmore, and Peter Dinklage, is slated to hit theaters on July 18th, 2014.
