Danny Boyle (Sunshine, 127 Hours), who directed the original 28 Days Later, which followed a group of people trying to survive after the rage virus spread across the world, turning most of the Earth’s population into zombies, will reportedly return to direct the third installment in the franchise.
Dread Central reports that while Juan Carlos Fresnadillo directed the first sequel, 28 Weeks Later, Boyle who directed the original 28 Days Later will return for the third installment:
“Danny Boyle, is planning to return to direct the as of yet untitled third film in the franchise.”
“For those wondering, this news has come from Boyle himself. The director indicated to a good friend of our site that “there’s another 28 Days Later in the works.” When asked if the title would be 28 Months Later, Boyle replied “In theory, yes.” Immediately the next question was if he’d be producing, to which Boyle responded, “Actually I want to direct it.” There you have it, kids. From the horse’s mouth.”
