Aww, Sammy! Good for you! We’re happy to learn that Jared Padalecki‘s character Sam Winchester is getting a love interest in upcoming Season 8 – yes, Season 8! – on The CW‘s Supernatural. The woman in question is familiar to fans of last summer’s Alphas.

TVLine is reporting that Liane Balaban has been cast as the “tragedy-damaged soul” that “soon reveals herself to be a brave, sweet, smart, sarcastic woman.” Like nearly every other character in the show! Perfect! That neatly sums up most of the reasons that we love the show! Along with the eye candy, of course, and she fits in nicely there as well!

Balaban was in two episodes of Syfy’s Alphas last year as the human Rosetta stone, so she has experience with our kind of show. We’re looking forward to seeing how things go for the Winchester boys in the capable hands of new showrunnerJeremy Carver, and it’s nice to know that romance is part of the plan.

Supernatural Season 8, starring Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles, premieres October 3 on its new night, Wednesdays at 9/8c on The CW.
