Squee! NBC has renewed “Chuck” for another season of likely a thirteen-episode order. The show performed with mediocre but steady ratings in its Monday night slot. I, for one, would like to think that the flash-mobbing fan base has a little something to do with this news.
Also renewed for another season is ABC’s alien invasion reboot, “V”. Even with the long hiatus interrupting the airing of this series, the show is also likely to receive a thirteen-episode order.
Also likely to make the NBC line-up in the fall is “The Cape”’, starring David Lyons as a “former cop who, after getting framed, becomes a superhero to clear his name. The Terminator herself, Summer Glau will co-star as “a blogger out for justice”.
On the flipside, sci-fi has lost ABC’s “FlashForward” and “Better Off Ted”. Ratings for both shows have not been strong enough for the network to justify keeping them around, which is a real shame because both shows had made their mark on this season and helped bring sci-fi concepts to the mainstream. Guess “FlashForward” won’t be the next “Lost” after all.

For the good news on “Chuck” and “V”, I’m obviously happy for, but the cancellations…
:kicks chair over: I had high hopes for “FlashForward”, but it just lost its steam. The show performed well in the beginning with viewers, but then never regained their interest. Dang it, because I thought it was just getting really interesting!
“Better Off Ted” was like a hidden sci-fi gem inside of a show about corporate culture. The way it was written and performed was so smart, biting, and hilarious! How will I ever get on with my life without Veronica-isms?
