Synopsis:

This full color owners guide dissects the most famous ship in the galaxy section-by-section, revealing the ship’s secrets and special modifications. The book includes technical notes from Han Solo as well as a detailed overview of each of the ship’s main functions.

“You know, that ship’s saved my life quite a few times. She’s the fastest hunk of junk in the galaxy!” – Lando Calrissian

The standard Corellian Engineering Corporation YT-1300 stock light freighter, won by Han Solo from Lando Calrissian in the Cloud City Sabacc Tournament went through countless modifications and rebuilds, including (but definitely not limited to) the infamous hidden cargo sections for hiding cargo (and crew) from Imperial forces.

The ship that made the Kessel Run in less than twelve parsecs and launched from Docking Bay 94 in Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope is a favorite vessel among many a Star Wars fan, who have likely always wondered how it works, what’s inside and what parts and features of the ship didn’t we see in the movies?

Check out the trailer for the book below, hosted by Leland Chee, Keeper of the Holocron for Lucas Licensing.

Thanks to Scholastic and their Star Wars: Millennium Falcon 3-D Owner’s Guide, you can explore every nook and cranny of this famous ship. While rated for ages 8 and up, this is definitely a book for Star Wars fans of all ages. Weighing in at over two pounds, this hefty 24 page 3-D over-sized board book/mock owner’s manual introduces itself to the reader by stating “Congratulations on your purchase of a Corellian Engineering Corporation YT-1300 light freighter!” and proceeds to show highly detailed cutaways of the entire ship as you turn each page. In addition, you will find techincal specifications and notes from Lando Clrissian and Han Solo about the ship and the modifications that they made.

Check out the cover and a look inside the book by clicking the images below.

The reader gets a closeup look at all the different parts of the ship Armaments, Sensors, Defense, Propulsion, Piloting, Crew Quarters, Life Support, Cargo, Engineering and more, through a peel away 3-D layouts of the ship that show the next layer on the right, while giving you an underside view of the previous layer on the left that readers can both see and touch.

It’s a cool book for kids, and for adults it would make a great coffee table book that would surely be a conversation piece. The only problem I had with the book is that it left me wanting more.

I give Star Wars: Millennium Falcon – A 3-D Owner’s Guide Four out of Five Stars
