Did you watch the Golden Globes this past Sunday?  In case you didn’t here’s a list of the winners of the night.  SciFi Mafia has already reported to you that “Avatar” won “Best Picture: Drama” and also for James Cameron for “Best Director”, but who else won?  There were several sci-fi films and TV shows nominated, including “District 9”, “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs”, “Coraline”, “Fantastic Mr. Fox”, “The Princess and the Frog”, “Up”, “True Blood”, and “Lost”.  It is great to see movies and shows of the genre being nominated (though heavily in the animated feature category), but the competition was fierce this year.

Neil Blomkamp’s “District 9” broke out of the sci-fi box and was nominated for Best Screenplay, but lost to”Up In the Air”.

“Up” scored both Best Animated Feature and Best Score.

In the television categories, HBO’s vampire drama, “True Blood”, scored noms for:  Best Television Series- Drama and Best Actress in A Television Drama for Anna Paquin (who is also up for Best Actress in a Mini-Series or TV Movie), but lost to “Man Men” for Best TV Series and Julianna Margulies for Best Actress in TV Drama.

Michael Emerson of ABC’s “Lost” was up for Best Supporting Actor in a Television Role, but lost to John Lithgow for his role in “Dexter”.
