The very same website spilling the rumor that Taylor Swift will be the next Supergirl (hollywoodscoop), is now claiming that Ryan Reynolds (Green Lantern) and Sam Worthington (Avatar) are both vying for the role of Flash Gordon. Their Hollywood insider says, “Right now it’s between Sam, Ryan Reynolds and one or two others for the lead role should the project actually get off the ground.”

They say that the role calls for Flash as a handsome polo player and Yale graduate, who travels to the planet Mongo, where it’s discovered that the meteors are weapons devised by Ming the Merciless, evil ruler of Mongo.

I’d say this is probably less legit than the Supergirl rumor and unless Reynolds is planning for roles in films that are 10 years out, I don’t think he could even fit this into his already packed Green Lantern/Deadpool schedule. So, as always… we’ll call this total rumor until we hear something official.

On a side note, if they really are making another Flash Gordon movie anytime in the future, they’d better use the original Queen soundtrack!
