Back in May, we brought you the news when Summit Entertainment announced that Anthony Hopkins, Catherine Zeta-Jones (Rock of Ages) and Byung-hun Lee had been cast in the Dean Parisot (Justified, Galaxy Quest) directed Red 2, alongside returning cast-members Bruce Willis, John Malkovich, Mary-Louise Parker and Helen Mirren.

Now, Variety reports that Neal McDonough (Captain America: The First Avenger) is in negotiations to join the all-star cast of Red 2 in an undisclosed role. The trade also reports: “In this installment, Willis and company are searching for a weapon of mass destruction but must first break out the man who created the weapon from an insane asylum.”

Red 2 is slated to hit theaters on August 2, 2013.
