Miranda Otto Joins the Supernatural In I, FRANKENSTEIN

The plot of I, Frankenstein gets more and more interesting with each casting announcement. Last week, we told you that Yvonne Strahovski (Chuck) had been cast as star Aaron Eckhart’s love interest and prior to that, character actor Bill Nighy (Total Recall) landed the role of the villainous demon prince.

Now, THR reports that Miranda Otto (Locke & Key, Lord of the Rings) has joined this talented lot and things get that much more interesting. Otto has been cast as the royal leader of gargoyles in the Stuart Beattie directed film.

In this interpretation of the Frankenstein’s monster tale, Adam, played by Eckhart, struggles with his humanity and the monster that he is. All the while, rival supernatural sides want the key to his reanimation. Strahovski’s scientist character is reportedly “tricked into working for demons (cue Nighy) seeking to create an army of the undead” and Otto’s queen strives to help Adam.

Synopsis:

I, FRANKENSTEIN is a modern-day epic:  Frankenstein’s creature, ADAM, has survived to present day due to a genetic quirk in his creation.  Making his way to a dark, gothic metropolis, he finds himself caught in an all-out, centuries old war between two immortal clans.  As writer/director, Stuart Beattie said, “Mary Shelly’s story is about the creation of the first human being.  This is the story about that being becoming human.”

I, Frankenstein based on a graphic novel by Underworld co-creator Kevin Grevioux is slated to hit theaters on February 22nd, 2013.
