Back in October we told you that Johnny Whitworth (Limitless, Valley of the Sun) joined the cast of the Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor (Crank, Crank 2) directed Ghost Rider sequel, Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance.
Now, in an interview with AMC Theaters, Johnny Whitworth spoke about the villainous character that he plays in the film:
“I play the villain who, at the beginning, up until like page 70, I am, for all intents and purposes, human. I’m not a very nice guy. I’m bad. I get turned into, for those who read Ghost Rider, the character Blackout. I get turned into him by the devil to complete my job. That gives me the fortitude to fight Ghost Rider and the supernatural ability to compete, on some level, with that guy.”
According to Wikipedia:
“Blackout is apparently descended from both human and demonic ancestors, and his hybrid physiology gives him a number of superhuman abilities. His strength, speed, stamina, durability, and reflexes are superhuman. He can see in near darkness, and he has the psionic ability to extinguish both natural and artificial light sources in his immediate vicinity. His skin is highly sensitive to light. His teeth (and allegedly jaws) have been mechanically-enhanced to give him vampire-like fangs, which he usually employs to tear out the throats of his victims and enemies. He is a highly experienced hand-to-hand combatant, a superior acrobat, and wrestler.”

The actor also spoke about traveling throughout Romania and Turkey for the four month shoot on the Neveldine and Taylor directed Ghost Rider sequel.
“It was fantastic. We went to places that were so outstanding and beautiful, in both countries. You would more than likely not plan your vacation to go there, because you wouldn’t know about it, not because you wouldn’t want to be there. I feel very blessed to have gone on this journey and, if it makes any sense to you, I feel like a better human being from having done it. I learned a lot about myself, a lot about the world, and a lot about making action movies.”
Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance is slated to hit theaters on February 17th, 2012.
