Earlier this month, Famke Janssen (Down the Shore, X-Men) signed on to play the leader of the witches, opposite Jeremy Renner (The Hurt Locker, The Avengers) and Gemma Arterton (Wrath of the Titans) as Hansel and Gretel in director Tommy Wirkola‘s (Dead Snow) Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters.

Now, Deadline reports that Peter Stormare (Lockout, Prison Break) has joined the cast as ‘Berringer’, the villainous town sheriff. The film picks up the fairy-tale siblings 15 years after their traumatic gingerbread house incident, which provoked them to become witch hunters.

Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters is slated to hit theaters on March 3rd, 2012.
